#ustrend #webstory The Sport Awards are cool, however we’d like E3

The Game Awards recently announced their list of nominees. While I generally look forward to this and Summer Game Fest every year, I feel like it's because of what we lost with the
end of E3. There are times when the Game Awards feel hollow, less a celebration of gaming and more a box-ticking exercise. I believe the gaming industry deserves its own awards
show. But ideally one that evokes the sense of community that E3 brought about. Videos from VICE ARE THE GAME AWARDS FOR US? Screenshot: Nintendo Much has been made of Geoff
Keighley leaving to launch the Summer Game Fest and Game Awards. He had a vision and he executed it well. And he is not responsible for E3's death. The Big 3, all of which decided
to create their own digital showcases over time (and COVID), also contributed. The problem is, there was Nothing like E3. It was the Gamer Super Bowl. Even from home it was
incredible. The presentations, the reporting, the interaction of people - all of it, in my opinion, was consistent with gaming as an adult. So losing E3 hurt in many ways. Because
even if it wasn't what I thought it was, at least it made an effort to seem like it. The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest seem clean and business-like. It doesn't seem like a
gathering of players celebrating what they love. THERE IS ROOM FOR BOTH I think that the existence of E3 would increase the prestige of The Game Awards. An industry-wide conference
in the middle of the year and an awards ceremony at the end of the year are the right way to go. We had it for a brief moment, but towards the end of the E3 run when it was
basically dead. I know we probably won't get it back. The Big 3 are firm in their decision to hold their individual digital events. And without it, it's difficult to get others to
commit to putting it together. And both the Summer Game Fest and the Game Awards were very successful. I like both events and commend Geoff for finding a way to make it all happen
and show the gaming industry in the light he has. I just wish we didn't have to lose what E3 represented in the process. It meant something to a lot of people.
